Cranberry Lemonade
Though cranberries are acidic, this is balanced by the alkalizing power of the lemons. The antimicrobial
effects of the cranberries help your kidneys fight off stones caused by acidic pH levels. Plus, everybody loves
lemonade!
• 1 cup cranberries
• 3 cups water
• 2 lemons, peeled
Light and refreshing, this smoothie is made by simply blending the cranberries and lemons, then
adding the water. The lemons prevent oxidation, so go ahead and make multiple servings, even if
you won’t be drinking them right away—they won’t lose their nutritional value. Enjoy!

Beta to C You with Smoothie xxx
Limes are one of the most alkalizing foods you can eat, and the calcium and minerals provided by the
carrots and greens make this excellent for your pH as well. The smoothie has a rich, green taste, lightened
and sweetened by the lime, carrot, and cucumber.
• 2 kale leaves
• 1 cup spinach
• 1 lime, peeled
• 1 green bell pepper, de-stemmed
• 1 cucumber, quartered
• 1 carrot with greens
Pulse the kale, spinach, and lime. Next, add the pepper, cucumber, and carrot. You may want to add
1/2 cup water to the smoothie to loosen it up a bit.
Yield: About 3 cups.
The Dish on Limes
The Good: In addition to being packed with vitamin C, limes are also extremely alkalizing to
your body, despite the high citric acid content. The citric acid in limes is also great for
stimulating weight loss, and it’s a great antioxidant, so it helps you fight disease.
The Bad: Though it’s alkalizing once it hits your stomach, the acid in the limes can damage
the surface of your teeth, so be sure to rinse your mouth after drinking anything containing lime
juice. Limes also have a significant amount of carbohydrates from fruit sugars, so tread
carefully if you’re monitoring your sugar intake.
